Über mich
Als Vertretungsprofessor leite ich die Forschungsgruppe Web Science am KIT.
Ich erforsche Ansätze, um eine Brücke zwischen der Modellierung von Verhalten (z.B. aus der Künstlichen Intelligenz, kognitiven Systemen, der Geschäftsprozessmodellierung oder dynamischen Systemen) und Web-Technologien aus dem Bereich der semantischen Wissensrepräsentation (Wissensgraphen, RDF, OWL) sowie dem Datenzugriff (HTTP) zu schlagen. Meine Forschungsergebnisse ermöglichen z.B. neuartige Assistenzsysteme sowie die Orchestrierung von Diensten und Geräten für das Internet der Dinge/Industrie 4.0, Web Services, die Blockchain oder Cyber-Physische Systeme.
Folgende Herausforderungen sind dabei in meinem Fokus:
- Für Autorisierung und Authentifizierug rund um den Datenzugriff bedarf es entsprechender Identitäten, z.B. dezentrale (DID) oder selbstbestimmte (SSI), wobei Web-Technologien einen Beitrag zur Interoperabilität leisten können.
- Ich untersuche neuro-symbolische Ansätze, z.B. mit großen Sprachmodellen und Wissensgraphen, um KI-Planung in weitere Anwendungsdomänen zu bringen.
- Hybride Ansätze aus physikalischen Modellen und Wissensgraphen ermöglichen Anfragen, die sowohl Faktenwissen als auch Wissen um die Dynamik von Systemen (z.B. Produktionsanlagen) einbeziehen
- Im Bereich Analytics beschäftige ich mit der Entwicklung von Methoden zur Analyse von semantisch repräsentierten Zeitreihen, z.B. der Evolution von Daten im Linked-Data-Web.
Aktuell koordiniere ich ein europäisches Netzwerk in Form einer COST-Aktion zum Thema Verteilte Wissensgraphen (CA19134 Distributed Knowledge Graphs), leite ich den KI-Teil von KIGLIS, einem BMBF-geförderten Projekt zum Thema Künstliche Intelligenz in Smart Cities und deren optischer Kommunikationsnetze, leite den KIT-Anteil am Projekt MANDAT, einem BMBF-geförderten Projekt zu dezentralen Web-Technologien für Datenökosystemen mit Datentreuhändern, helfe in DigiBatMat, ebenfalls BMBF-gefördert, die Batterie-Materialforschung mittels semantischer Technologien zu digitalisieren, und bin Programmbeauftragter am KIT für SeReCo, einem deutsch-französischen Doktorandenkolleg.
Kürzlich startete am KIT und Fraunhofer die DFG-geförderte KI-Forschergruppe 5339 zur schnellen Ertüchtigung unreifer Produktionsprozesse mittels Künstlicher Intelligenz, bei der ich unter den PIs bin.
Abgeschlossene Projekte der jüngsten Vergangenheit, welche ich leitete, sind TraPS, ein BMBF-gefördertes Projekt zum Zusammenspiel verteilter Wissensgraphen und der Blockchain für Supply Chains und DataScore, ein Projekt zu Anreizmechanismen für gutes Forschungsdatenmanagement.
Für die Forschungscommunity organisiere ich Events im Rahmen der COST Action CA19134, eine Challenge ATAC zu Agenten und Linked Data bei der International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2021) und diente im Organisationskommittee für die 2021 und 2020-Ausagebe der SEMANTiCS-Konferenz.
